Hunter's Highlights

What a week this has been at Ardmore High School! The week began with the final administration of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam due to the snow the previous week. Our faculty, staff, and students did a wonderful job of adapting when asked to do so by the weather. Standardized testing places everyone in an unfamiliar setting and requires everyone’s cooperation. I have no doubt our students did wonderfully as they have always done in the past.

Our Award Winning Ardmore High School Band continued its winning ways as they competed in a competition in Tuscaloosa this week. Our band received all superior ratings from each judge and according to people in attendance gave a stirring performance. We are very proud of our band program and everyone that plays a part in its success. Mr. Nelson, the students, and the parents are all to be congratulated on the quality of our band program.

We have a group of physics students, along with Mr. Kirk and Ms. Chafin, attending a space camp event in a couple of weeks. Weeks of preparation and fundraising have taken place in order to make this event possible. Senator Tom Butler and Rep. Henry White helped us secure funding that went a long way in making this trip possible. Mr. Kirk and Ms. Chafin have worked extremely hard to make this excellent educational opportunity available to our students.

Our students took nine weeks tests this week which means other 9-weeks grading period has come to an end. It doesn’t seem possible, but we only have nine more weeks of school remaining in this school year. I guess time really does fly when you are having fun.

Spring Break is upon us and I hope everyone in the Ardmore family has a wonderful break and they have some time to relax and enjoy all the truly good things life has to offer. We are all very fortunate to live and work in such a wonderful, caring community.
